BU dismisses Bennett, will go with a fresh face in goal

By Mike McMahon

BOSTON -- Boston University has parted ways with goaltender Brett Bennett, after just two years in the crease.

The former NTDP goaltender struggled out of the gates last season, and while his won-loss record and goals-against average at the end of the year was certainly respectable -- he finished 16-10-3 with a 2.63 GAA -- his numbers may have been a product of BU's system. His .888 save percentage was jaw-droppingly poor. And, midway through the year, he floated around .865.

"Our staff has decided to move in a difference direction in regards to our goaltender," BU head coach Jack Parker told College Hockey News. "We wish Brett the best in his future endeavours."

Parker had been quite complimentary towards Bennett as the season went along. After the Terriers 6-4 at Lawler Arena in January, he remarked that he thought Bennett had turned a corner after a lackluster start.

The move leaves the Terriers with virtually no experience in the nets for next season. Sophomore Adam Kraus will be back after appearing in two games last year. He'll be joined by recruits Grant Rollheiser and Kieran Millan

Interesting to see a coach just cut a goalie, there must be more to the story.
