BREAKING: BC's Gerbe signs with Buffalo

By Mike McMahon

BOSTON -- It's comes as little surprise, but BC's Nathan Gerbe, the NCAA Tournament's Most Outstanding player, has decided to forgo his senior season at Boston College and has signed an entry-level contract with the Buffalo Sabres.

Gerbe, who led the Eagles with 35 goals last season, was a runner up for the Hobey Baker Award. If he had returned to the Heights next season, he would have been the odds on favorite for the award next year.

A fifth-round pick of the Sabres in 2005, Gerbe finished his college career with 133 points in 123 games.

I updated the Scoring Comparison blog on the right side; Gerbe's departure has greatly influenced those numbers.
